Aeronmar Begins

In Aeronmar, a world once filled with beautiful, lush meadows and brilliant forests that were grander than anything you could ever imagine, everything changed. One spring, when the rains relentlessly came without warning, nothing could stop the flooding. Homes were shattered, towns were demolished, and even huge cities were now buried under miles and miles of water. The Circle of Shemesh is trapped in a never-ending blaze up in the skies, and darkness never comes.

In some places you can still see the reminisce of what was lost and the Aeronmar people remain hopeful in all their ways. But everywhere else, all you see is water and sun. Mountains that were once the tallest things you’d ever seen now look like small islands of land all around. In cities that were at a higher elevation, you can still find safe havens, where homes have been built and floating gardens have been planted that give the residents of those places something worth holding onto.

Nothing seems like it will ever go back to the way it was, but on the horizon of this world of water lies hope. There are mysterious cities high up in the skies that appear out of what many believe to be nothing. If you are lucky, someday you may find your way up to one of them, but that is rare in the Days of Sun. Many believe that if you work hard enough, live long enough, and build the right connections on the surface, you will be granted asylum and taken up through the barrier of fog and to the sky cities to live out the rest of your days.

Those who have completed the rite of passage honoring the divine God of time, Zakar, have earned the right to journey to the sky cities but never return to those they have left behind. In truth, no one actually knows how to find out why or what these floating sky cities are, either. Instead, the Aeronmar people imagine a paradise of untold glory and bliss. These questions, and more, influence the beliefs of the people of the water, but they still wonder what happens when you earn the right to become a person of the sky. Our three protagonists are about to find out in The Ascendants of Water and Sky, though.

See you in the pages, E.M.
